About the Author

Rey Chow

Born in Hong Kong, she earned her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University in the United States. She has taught at the University of Minnesota and Brown University, and is currently a professor at Duke University. She is one of the most important scholars in the field of Chinese cultural studies. Her research areas include modern Chinese literature, contemporary feminist theory, Chinese cinema, postcolonial theory, and cultural studies.

About the Translators

Chen Yanxiu

She holds a Master’s degree from the Institute of Language and Culture at National Chiao Tung University. She specializes in English teaching, cultural studies, and Chinese-English translation.

Chen Xiangyang

He graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation at National Taiwan Normal University, researching the English translation of Chinese literature and Chinese-English comparative rhetoric. He has worked as an interpreter and translator for many years, and has served as an adjunct lecturer at Shih Hsin University and Shih Chien University, a translation instructor at Chuang Sheng Education, and a lecturer at TransLingua Consulting. He has translated over a dozen works, including Kiss! A Cultural History of the Kiss, The Power of Awakening: The Golden Key to Transform Life, North of the DMZ: Essays on Daily Life in North Korea (co-translated), Misplaced Taipei: Following a Scholar’s Pedestrian Perspective, Starting from the Bronze Horse in the Park, Exploring the Space, Power, and Cultural Semiotics of the Century-Old Capital (co-translated), and Painful History: Historical Trauma in Modern Chinese Literature and Film (co-translated).

周蕾Rey Chow

出生於香港，在美國史丹福大學先後獲得碩士與博士學位，曾任教於美國明尼蘇達大學、美國布朗大學，現為美國杜克大學教授，為華裔文化研究領域最重要的學者之一。研究領域為：現代中國文學、當代女性主義理論、中國電影、後殖民理論及文化研究。

交通大學語言與文化研究所碩士，擅於英語教學，文化研究，中英筆譯。
