Kenneth Pomeranz is the Chair of the History Department, Professor of History and East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of California, Irvine, and Director of the University of California System's World History Research Group. Most of his work focuses on Chinese and comparative economic development, rural social change, environmental change, and state formation, but he has also written on the history of folk religion, family structure, and gender roles.
