Charles Hartman, male, is from Pennsylvania, USA. He holds a Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Indiana University. He is now a Professor Emeritus in the Department of East Asian Studies at the State University of New York at Albany and serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Song-Yuan Studies. His research expertise lies in the historiography and political history of the Song dynasty. In addition to "The Making of Song Dynasty History: Sources and Narratives" (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and "Structures of Governance in Song Dynasty China" (Cambridge University Press, 2023), he has also authored "The Rigorous Embellishment of History: Interpreting Southern Song Historiography under the Shadow of Daoxue." He has published over 50 articles in journals such as Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies, T’oung Pao, Journal of Song-Yuan Studies, Journal of Chinese History, as well as in Wenshi, Zhongguoshi Yanjiu, Lishi Wenxian Yanjiu, Songshi Yanjiu Luncong, and Xin Shixue.

蔡涵墨 (Charles Hartman)，男，美国宾夕法尼亚州人，美国印第安那大学东亚语言文学系博士。现为纽约州立奥尔巴尼大学东亚研究系荣誉教授，Journal of Song-Yuan Studies主编。专长研究领域为宋代史学史与宋代政治史，除《历史的严妆：解读道学阴影下的南宋史学》以外，还著有《塑造宋代历史：史料与叙事》（The Making of  Song Dynasty History: Sources and Narratives，Cambridge University Press，2021)与《宋朝的治理结构》（Structures of Governance in Song Dynasty China，Cambridge University Press，2023）。在Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies, T’oung Pao, Journal of  Song-Yuan Studies,  Journal of  Chinese History，以及《文史》《中国史研究》《历史文献研究》《宋史研究论丛》《新史学》等刊物上发表论文50余篇。
