Lu Hanchao (American), Ph.D. in History from UCLA. He is currently a full professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Institute of Technology. He has served as a full-time or visiting professor at the State University of New York, National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University, Harvard University, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Academia Sinica (Taiwan). He was President of the Chinese Historians in the United States, Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Historical Review, evaluator for the Ford Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies, and Distinguished Research Fellow at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. His main research areas include modern Chinese socio-economic history and urban history. His major works in Chinese and English include Biography of Hart, Beyond the Neon Lights, Street Criers, and The Birth of a Republic. Among them, Beyond the Neon Lights won the Best Book Award from the Urban History Association; Street Criers won the Cecil B. Currey Book Award from the Association of Third World Studies; and The Birth of a Republic won the Academic Honor Award from the Chinese Historians in the United States. [美]卢汉超，美国洛杉矶加州大学（UCLA）历史学博士。现任美国乔治亚理工学院艾伦人文学部教授。曾在纽约州立大学、新加坡国立大学、清华大学、哈佛大学、柏林洪堡大学、台湾“中央研究院”等院校任全职或客座教授, 并任中国留美历史学会会长、《中国历史评论》主编、美国福特基金会和美国学术团体理事会评审、上海社会科学院特聘研究员等职。

主要研究领域：中国近代社会经济史、城市史。主要中英文著作有《赫德传》《霓虹灯外》《叫街者》《一个共和国的诞生》等，其中《霓虹灯外》获美国城市史学会著作奖,《叫街者》获美国第三世界研究学会塞西尔·柯里著作奖,《一个共和国的诞生》获中国旅美历史学会学术荣誉奖。
