Tian Ling (Wendy Swartz)

She is currently Associate Professor of Chinese Literature at Rutgers University. Previously, she taught at Columbia University for many years and also at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research focuses primarily on the poetry and poetics of the Six Dynasties period. She has published articles on Tao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun in major American academic journals such as Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies and Chinese Literature: Essays, Articles, Reviews. She also edited Early Medieval China: A Sourcebook, published by Columbia University Press in January 2014. Her book Reading Tao Yuanming: Shifting Paradigms of Historical Reception (427-1900) (Harvard University Asia Center, 2008) was selected as an Outstanding Academic Title for the year by Choice magazine of the American Library Association.
